| The Oriental Pearl TV Tower, completed
in 1994 and standing 468 meters, is the tallest TV tower in Asia and
the third tallest in the world. It stands by the bank of Huangpu River.
It covers a total area of 8400 square meters.
The monastery has three halls namely the Heavenly King Hall, the
Grand Hall and the Abbot's Chamber. This famous Buddhist Monastery
houses two jade statues of Sakyamuni. One is in a sitting position,
and the other is a reclining position. Both statues are of great
artistic value and are regarded as treasures of Buddhism in our
country.
Displayed in the Exhibition Room of the monastery
are some Sutra texts, stone-caved statuettes, painted portraits
of Buddha, a meticulously carved screen, a sculpture carved with
figures from Buddhist story, etc. All these precious articles and
cultural relics of Buddhism are rarely seen today.
