The History Museum of Shaanxi Province is China's
first large-scale national museum that boasts modern facilities. The construction
of the museum started in 1983. The whole facility covers a total floor
space of 65,000 square meters. With six exhibition sections, the exhibition
route totals 2,100 meters. The architectural complex features construction
style prevalent during the Tang Dynasty. It can be considered as a reflection
of national traditions, local characteristics and modern trends.
The province of Shaanxi has served as the national
capital of 12 feudal dynasties such as Zhou, Qin, Han, Tang, etc. It is
also rich in underground cultural relics. The Historical Museum of Shaanxi
Province put on display more than 370,000 pieces of rare relics that were
unearthed in the province. The majority of them serve as ingenious national
treasures of China.
