The Kanas national grade natural environmental protection area is located at Xinjiang Altai Prefecture, Buerjin district. It neighbors the Mongolia, Russia, Kazakstan countries. The biological composition of Kanas is very strange and characteristically special in ecological system. It gathers the glaciers, permafrost, high mountain, river, lake, forest, grassland all these various natural sceneries in one place. It not only possesses the northern China's landscape but also the southern China's scenery. Kanas is rich in biological resources, with plenty of categories, it has 798 sorts of plants, and 37 sorts of animal that the nation frotdcks.The Mongolian Tuwa people lived and developed in Kanas for long decades, they are a people of honest, truthful and easy to approach, and they have many specific traditional customs. The Kazak people are warm-hearted and hospitable. When the famous scholar professor Qian wei-chang visited Kanas, he praised Kanas as: "the sole place that possesses the scenes of Switzerland in whole Asia."

Kanas Lake
The Kanas Lake is 24.5 kilometers long, mean width is 1.9 kilometers; averaged depth is 120.1 meters. It stores water 5400 million cubic meters. It is the biggest high-mountain lake in our country. Kanas is also one of the two so called "lake monstrosity" of the world. It is famous in world-wide of it's "broad heart" and the "lake monstrosity", "cloud-sea Buddha-light" and "color changeful lake" these riddles.

Kanas in spring
Colorful, bright mountain flowers in full bloom diversified wild natural flowers burstly opened that form a calm sea of flowers. White yurts, shepherd, and cloud patches mix with the colorful and fragrant grasslands. The lake water of Kanas in spring is full of green ripples, crystal-clear and translucent.

Kanas in summer
Emerald, green brilliant, the vast earth seems covered with green blanket, not a single spot is contaminated. The thick mist resembles verily like the holy white gauze kerchief that flutters and curls up. With a deep breathe that refreshing the mind. The water of Kanas lake is white because that a white water from the upper reach of the river that flows into the lake, then the lake water is dyed into a milk-white color, thus it shows a special miraculous scenery.

Kanas in autumn
Layered forests, thick clothes of dazzling beauty, the first snow begins to accumulate on the mountain peaks, the mountain slopes and the forest which originally covered by green color then turns into a large patch of golden-yellow, blood-red, rose pink colored leaves. The whole mountain and plain get more sprayed perfumed with the autumn fragrance.

Kanas in winter
The winter in Kanas is calmly wrapped with silver dress. Everywhere of this miraculous earth will be covered by the thick snow, holy and calm. The snow and mist crystals quietly hang on the cedar branches, only the sledges of Tuwa people run and swing to and fro on the vast snowfield.
